RNPA Intensive - Learning Experience

“In a year’s time after taking the RNPA Learning Intensive, my career, my health, my family, my very life has been transformed. I am forever grateful” — Karen DiMarco, RN, iRNPA

“The way of the future of nursing...an absolute must if you want to make and be the difference in righting the wrongs of healthcare. Kare is a wonderful mentor who has put her soul into this program. Passion, Vision, Perseverance.” — Lana Benton, RN, iRNPA

“The forethought, experience, openness, philosophy and preparation provides all the tools, thought process, and confidence to begin and succeed as an iRNPA.” — Leta Gill, RN, iRNPA

“My experience attending the iRNPA program was a refreshing one, to say the least. This program was packed with life changing information that is not readily taught or available to RN's. This program equipped me with the tools I need to be an iRNPA!  If you are ready for a change after working for many years in the clinical setting, and are driven to help patients and families, this is the program for you!  Karen is a wealth of knowledge that is unmatched in the advocacy process.” — Jamie Long

“Thank you so much for putting together such an incredible RN PA intensive course!  It is truly intensive but so worth it!  I learned a lot and will be using the Medical Time Line and lab spreadsheet with as many clients as i can.  All great information and can’t wait to get my speaking engagements lined up now that I have your fantastic power points!” —  Nan Wetherhorn, Health Care Advisor, www.healthcareadvisornan.com

About Me

With over 36 years of clinical experience in Critical Care nursing, home based health care and expertise as a cardiovascular nurse clinician, Teri is well acquainted with the complexities and challenges of the modern health care system. She has served as a nursing leader, mentor, educator and consistent patient advocate throughout her career in some of the leading hospitals across the country.

Her passion for patient safety and her drive to keep the patient at the center of the American health care system led her to incorporate North Shore Patient Advocates in 2011, serving clients throughout Chicagoland. She is also an award winning inspirational speaker, author and private patient advocate who helps young and old alike navigate personal health challenges successfully.

She has been awarded the country’s top professional advocacy award for her industry, the Ken Schueler Award and has been named Chicago Business Journal’s Woman of Influence for 2016. In 2016, her book Patient Advocacy Matters became a best seller on Amazon within one month of publication. She says that patient advocacy has always been a core value in her career as a nurse and being able to own her own private professional advocacy company is a dream come true. She is active in promoting the industry locally and nationally and has helped organize both Chicago Patient Advocacy Symposium events that have received rave reviews in 2016 and 2017.

Personal Statement

To me, being a professional RN patient advocate is more than a career change from ICU nurse to RNPA; it is a calling and a passionate pursuit. Six years ago, becoming a caregiver and patient advocate for my father in law during a medical crisis on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, and six-week medical nightmare afterward allowed me to see how much our modern healthcare system has deteriorated from a vantage point of a family member.

I decided that I could no longer work from within the system; I needed to work independently to leverage my years of experience and “street smarts” in healthcare to help individual patients and their families successfully navigate a frightening and dangerous, fractured healthcare system. It has been the greatest career decision of my life.

My passion for “Senior Orphans” and supporting adult children in helping their parents long distance has led to my niche market in the Chicago area: medically complex cases and protecting senior orphans.

Our company employs six dedicated nurse advocates in five counties around Chicago. Our company’s passion for keeping the patient at the center of the healthcare system has resulted in a quick ascent to becoming industry leaders in the Midwest. My faith and deep love and compassion for seniors compel me to pursue excellence on behalf of my patients. Our tagline says it all: “It’s like having a nurse in the family!”
