“My experience attending the iRNPA program was a refreshing one, to say the least. This program was packed with life changing information that is not readily taught or available to RN's. This program equipped me with the tools I need to be an iRNPA! If you are ready for a change after working for many years in the clinical setting, and are driven to help patients and families, this is the program for you! Karen is a wealth of knowledge that is unmatched in the advocacy process.” — Jamie Long
“Thank you so much for putting together such an incredible RN PA intensive course! It is truly intensive but so worth it! I learned a lot and will be using the Medical Time Line and lab spreadsheet with as many clients as i can. All great information and can’t wait to get my speaking engagements lined up now that I have your fantastic power points!” — Nan Wetherhorn, Health Care Advisor, www.healthcareadvisornan.com
I have been a nurse since 1989 working primarily in the surgical, anesthesia, orthopedic and neurological areas, although I also have experience working with patients with autoimmune and cardiac-related disorders, diabetes, nephrology and cancer. I have always been a student intent on learning and therefore completed my Master’s Degree in 1998. I have served in leadership roles in areas of quality improvement and medical staff services at one of the largest hospitals in Phoenix. For the last 14 years, I had the privilege of serving as the Practice Administrator for a large anesthesiology and pain management group who provide anesthesia services throughout Maricopa County and Arizona. I have also worked with research, medical billing and insurance companies.
My husband and I moved from Idaho to Arizona over 25 years ago. We have raised three daughters and have eight grandchildren. The medical experiences of family members helped me determine that I can make a difference as a nurse patient advocate. My Mission: To help clients and their caregivers navigate the complex health care environment and become more self-sufficient in managing their healthcare needs.
I feel that my background and experience will enable me to help clients and their loved ones maximize their healthcare goals.
